UPDATE: Hill and Ross, two of the three suspects mentioned in the original story, have been located and taken into custody.
The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) has released the photos and names of three suspects wanted in connection with an apparent attack that occurred over the weekend at Fredella Village Apartments. A video of the incident has since begun circulating online.
Vicksburg Chief of Police Penny Jones said the video is “disturbing” and is asking for the public’s help in locating those alleged to have been involved.
“A deeply disturbing video has recently surfaced on social media, showing two men and a woman assaulting a defenseless female,” Jones said in a statement. “This act is not only senseless but an outright display of cowardice. Even more shocking are the callous comments made by one of the perpetrators.”
Wanted on charges of aggravated assault are 24-year-old Ronjanae Sandoria Hill, 27-year-old Charles Lee Doss III and 33-year-old Marcus Cortez Ross.
Jones said acts of violence like those shown in the video will not be tolerated and thanked citizens who reached out to VPD after seeing the images online.
“Our world can be a hard and challenging place, but we, the Vicksburg community, pride ourselves on standing up for one another,” Jones said. “We will not tolerate such acts of violence here. I want to personally thank every concerned citizen who has reached out to me with information and support. Your commitment to justice strengthens our resolve. The Vicksburg Police Department is here to ensure the safety of every member of our community, and we mean business when it comes to bringing those responsible to justice. We are sharing the photos of suspects involved and ask for your continued help in locating them. If you have any information, please contact us immediately. Together, we stand strong against violence in our community.”
Jones said the victim has received medical care and is in stable condition. She said anyone with any information concerning the case or the whereabouts of any of the suspects is asked to call VPD at 601-636-2511, or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477 (TIPS).
