Two Port Gibson men were taken into custody by Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) Saturday and have each been charged with possession of an illegal weapon.

VPD officials said a call reporting suspicious activity led to the traffic stop of a vehicle on Bayou Boulevard. A subsequent search of the vehicle, officials said, led to the discovery of a Glock 9mm handgun with an illegal “switch” attached. VPD said the purpose of the “switch” attachment is to convert a gun into a fully automatic weapon.

Arrested at the scene were 18-year-old Jeremiah Timmons and 21-year-old Maurtrell Jackson. Both men made their initial appearances in Vicksburg Municipal Court Tuesday in front of Judge Angela Carpenter.

Both men were bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury, each on a $50,000 bond.
