Management of Heritage House of Vicksburg Nursing Center called a meeting Friday of residents in the assisted living portion of the facility, referred to as Heritage House Retirement Center, and their caregivers to discuss the immediate closing of the facility.
According to information presented to residents, “Heritage House Retirement Center is announcing that it will close on or about December 31, 2024.”
Heritage House is located at 3103 Wisconsin Ave. The website for the home indicates that it provides “skilled nursing, wound care, long-term care, memory care and hospice care.”
Residents were told at the meeting that the nursing home portion of the facility would remain open, but those residing in the assisted living portion would be required to find other living arrangements by December 31.
A letter provided to residents further stated, “If the facility’s last resident is transferred or discharged prior that time (December 31), Heritage House will cease operations earlier, if permitted to do so by the Mississippi Department of Human Services.”
Phone and email requests for additional information from the facility were not immediately returned.
No reason for the closure and short notice was given to residents attending the meeting. Residents were advised at the meeting that there are currently no plans for any other companies to take over management of the facility, and residents were given a list of other assisted living facilities.
The closest alternate facility is located in Raymond, Mississippi.
This is a developing story.
