It was announced that shooting of wild geese from motor boats would be stopped. • Frank A. Scott was in Memphis on baseball business.

All Saints College Glee Club presented “Belle of Barcelona.” • Members of the Vicksburg Rotary Club were in Monroe, Louisiana to attend a joint meeting of the two clubs.
80 YEARS AGO: 1944
Mrs. Juanita Martin was doing nicely following surgery at Mercy Hospital. • Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bostwick, former Warren County residents, were visiting from Knoxville, Tennessee.
70 YEARS AGO: 1954
Services were held for Mrs. Martha Jenkins. • Martha Easley died.
60 YEARS AGO: 1964
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmitt and children moved to Valley View Lane. • William R. Ferris Jr. was awarded a Rotary Foundation Fellowship to study in Ireland.

Maj. Harold M. Beardalee was awarded the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Award. • Paula Parker was named Youth of the Month by the Exchange Club.

Jinx Smith, member of Bovina Senior 4-H Club, and a junior at All Saints Episcopal High School, was named to the state’s 49-member delegation to the National 4-H Congress in Chicago.

A court ruling said Surplus City USA owner C.N. Thomas could keep his property, despite Vicksburg’s attempt to secure the land for Harrah’s casino.

The City of Vicksburg and the Warren County Board of Supervisors were each taking closer looks into local economic development groups.

The Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen passed a resolution accepting streets in the Fox Run subdivision that were in need of repair.
