The Reindeer Run will also include a pet parade, adult beverages and reindeer games for children.

To kick off the fundraising event, the Anchuca Historic Mansion and Inn, 1010 1st E. St., will be hosting a Reindeer Roundup beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, organizer Debbie Peacock said. The Reindeer Roundup will kick off the fundraising event and will include music by Patrick Smith, a special appearance by Santa, Christmas appetizers and a cash bar. Tickets for the event are $25 for adults and $15 for children.

Reindeer Run Raffle tickets are also being sold, Peacock said.

“A bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year, donated by Toney’s Wine & Liquor, and a bottle of Blanton’s Original Single Barrel, donated by F& G Liquors, will be raffled off,” she said.

Raffle tickets are also being sold for a “Dinner Party for 6” featuring chef William Furlong, a 36” Blackstone Griddle and an original painting by Abby Perry. Tickets are $20 each.

Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., Peacock said the Mulberry Vicksburg, 1310 Mulberry St., will be hosting the Reindeer Run packet pickup party. The event will also include the announcement of raffle winners, she said, adding that for those who register after Dec. 6, packets will be available at Catfish Row on race day.

Last year, organizers of the Reindeer Run presented a $38,000 check to Paws Rescue. Since its inception, the Reindeer Run has totaled more than $150,000 that has been donated to the non-profit organization.

Peacock said she expects this year’s race will be as successful as those in the past and looks forward to seeing everyone come out and enjoy the day.

“It’s going to be another great year at the Reindeer Run,” she said. “If you are not a runner or walker, there are a lot of other ways you can support the Reindeer Run and Paws Rescue. Buy a raffle ticket, attend the Reindeer Roundup at Anchuca, attend the packet pickup party at the Mulberry, participate in the dog parade or volunteer.”
