Voting is open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are basketball players Sophie Masterson and Zion Harvey (Vicksburg High); Jack Dickerson (St. Aloysius soccer); and Nash Morgan (Warren Central football).

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Sophie Masterson, a senior with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s girls basketball team, had 19 points and seven rebounds, and made five 3-pointers in a 41-33 season-opening loss to Briarfield Academy on Nov. 14.

Zion Harvey, a senior with Vicksburg High’s girls basketball team, averaged 30 points in two games last week. She scored 35 in a 77-75 loss to Holmes County Central on Nov. 12, and had 25 points, 10 assists and four steals in a 71-65 win at Forest Hill on Nov. 14.

Jack Dickerson, a member of St. Aloysius’ boys soccer team, scored four goals and assisted on three others in a pair of wins last week. Dickerson had three goals and two assists in an 8-0 win over Cathedral on Nov. 12, and one goal and one assist in an 8-0 win vs. ACCS on Nov. 15.

Nash Morgan, a sophomore quarterback with Warren Central’s football team, completed 5 of 8 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 29 yards and another TD in a 43-0 win over Saltillo in the first round of the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and then be featured in our Friday print edition.
