Holiday Pop-Up Market coming to Vicksburg

Published 11:27 am Friday, November 22, 2024

The holiday season just got a little more festive. Beginning Saturday and running through Dec. 29, the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Holiday Pop-Up Market at 1100 Washington St.,  with some local organization also getting in on the festive opportunity for fundraising.

Small businesses that are chamber members will have the opportunity to sell or promote their services — no large inventory needed — and nonprofit groups can set up a booth to sell baked goods, offer gift-wrapping or any other festive service.

“This is such an important time for anyone in the retail business but especially for smaller hometown merchants,” Mississippi Main Street Association President-elect Kelle Barfield said. “The Holiday Pop-Up market showcases the best of Vicksburg, with the chamber of commerce organizing members to showcase their products and services as our historic buildings are filled with local businesses and shoppers. The gifts we give to one another at Christmas mean a lot, but they mean even more when they support local business owners and help our community thrive.”

Currently, vendors signed up to participate include Key City Woodcraft, Delta Dirt Shirts, Macarons by AK, The Mississippi Merchant, Pickers Pack N Ship, John Houston’s Wine & Spirits and Oshun Boutique.

Each week will also include a fundraising opportunity for a local organization.

“The first fundraiser to sign up for Saturday is Trial and Error Robotics,” Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce Corporate Programs Director Chris Rials said.

Rials said other confirmed fundraising opportunities include: Sunday, Nov. 24, Miss Mississippi Organization from 2 to 4 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 30, Hype Athletics; and Saturday, Dec. 7, Teens United with the United Way of West Central Mississippi.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturdays and from 1 until 6 p.m. Sundays. Space is limited.

For those who may not fall into the category of offering goods and services for holiday shoppers, Rials said she encourages everyone to come out and shop and support those participating in the pop-up market.

“Let’s make this holiday season memorable and strong for Vicksburg, Warren County businesses,” she said.
