How They Did: Vicksburg’s college football players – Nov. 23, 2024

A weekly recap of performances by college and pro football players from Vicksburg-area high schools:

• Alabama State kicker Brandon Gilliam (Warren Central) kicked three field goals to account for all of his team’s points in a 9-6 victory over Prairie View A&M. Gilliam made field goals of 42, 29 and 30 yards, with the last coming in the fourth quarter.

• South Alabama offensive lineman Reed Buys (Warren Central) started at guard and helped the Jaguars rush for 187 yards in a 35-14 win against Southern Miss.

• Nicholls defensive back Laurence Sullivan Jr. (Vicksburg High) had five solo tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass break-up in a 19-16 loss to Southeastern Louisiana.

• West Alabama linebacker Lamar Gray (Warren Central) assisted on two tackles in a 37-34 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.

• Georgia State safety Jeremiah Johnson (South Delta) had a team-high eight tackles, one quarterback hurry, and one-half tackle for loss in a 52-44 win vs. Texas State.
