Voting is open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.
This week’s nominees are Annslee Averett (St. Aloysius basketball); Ryder Jones (Briarfield Academy football); and soccer players Midori Allen (Vicksburg High) and Luke Bond (Warren Central).
Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Annslee Averett, a member of St. Aloysius’ girls basketball team, averaged 14 points in three games last week. Averett had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 57-11 win vs. MSD on Nov. 19, and scored 22 points in 42-40 loss to River Oaks on Nov. 21.
Ryder Jones, a senior running back and linebacker with Briarfield Academy’s football team, had 125 total yards and 10 tackles in a 32-18 victory over WCCA in the MAIS Class 1A championship game on Nov. 22.
Midori Allen, a senior with Vicksburg High’s girls soccer team, scored two goals in a 6-1 rout of Laurel on Nov. 18.
Luke Bond, a junior with Warren Central’s boys soccer team, scored a goal in three consecutive games, including the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Pearl on Nov. 19.
Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and then be featured in our Friday print edition.
