The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) is actively searching for the suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that injured one person Wednesday afternoon.

VPD is searching for 23-year-old Darion Turner after officers responded to a shooting Wednesday near the intersection of 3rd North and Grove streets. Turner is wanted for aggravated assault and is considered armed and dangerous.

Chief of Police Penny Jones said, upon arrival on the scene, officers learned the victim – a 32-year-old Black male – had been transported to a hospital by a private vehicle. Jones said he is currently in stable condition.

Preliminary information indicates the victim and the suspect are known to each other, she said, and investigators are actively gathering information.
