D.E. Welsh of New Orleans and Mrs. Helen Smith were married. • The Baptist Church congregation adopted resolutions on the death of Hardy Jones.

The Arkansas Hill Billies appeared at the Saenger Theatre. • U.S. Pump Barge No. 1 sprung a leak at Race Track Chute and sank. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1944

R.B. Alexander was a patient at Mercy Hospital. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1954

Jock Mahoney starred in “Overland Pacific” at the Joy Theater. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1964

Andy Bourgeois, head coach and athletic director at St. Aloysius High School, resigned his position and would become head football coach at a New Orleans high school.

50 YEARS AGO: 1974

Mrs. Bety Gragg, elementary art supervisor for Warren County schools, became a new member of the local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.

40 YEARS AGO: 1984

The Warren Central Vikings boys’ basketball team edged Clinton 47-45 in the second round of the WC Classic, setting off a celebration.

30 YEARS AGO: 1994

Bessie Durman, a resident at Vicksburg Convalescent Home, celebrated her 102nd birthday.  

20 YEARS AGO: 2004

A reprimand, instead of a suspension, went into the record of a police supervisor city officials said showed favoritism to an officer they later fired. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2014

St. Aloysius defeated Coffeeville on the football field to advance to the state championship game.
