Basketball Roundup: PCA drops delayed season opener; St. Al and Vicksburg swept

Published 9:24 am Wednesday, December 4, 2024

Porter’s Chapel Academy’s boys basketball team finally got on the court Tuesday night, but its debut did not go the way it hoped it would.

Jerry Johnson scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half, and John Michael Donahoo made four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points as Humphreys Academy beat PCA 71-25.

It was PCA’s season opener, after two games in November — including an earlier one vs. Humphreys — were canceled or postponed because it or its opponents were still in the MAIS football playoffs and did not have enough players.
