Almetus McKinley, member of the Jett 4-H Club, won a national dress contest. • Ann Fleury, a former Warren County resident, died in New York.

Harold Showman and son left for a visit to St. Louis. • Corp. William Campbell was in Vicksburg on a visit to his family. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1954

Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Segrest were honored with a surprise dinner party on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. George Dick announced the birth of a daughter, Cynthia, on Nov. 28. • Mrs. J.M. Harper was visiting relatives in Memphis. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1974

Pvt. Daryl Jackson received an outstanding trainee certificate while in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

40 YEARS AGO: 1984

Joshua William Poole celebrated his fourth birthday. • St. Aloysius Flashes Corey Pinkston, Lee Speyerer, Joe Baladi and Brent Barfield were among those named to the 1984 All-District 6A West Subdistrict team.

No. 4-ranked Warren Central faced Provine in the Mississippi Class 5A championship at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson.

Warren County’s E-911 commissioners were considering options for replacing computer software and hardware that could cost nearly $450,000.

Robert S. Browning IV was named 2014 Young Engineer of the Year for the Mississippi Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
