St. Al’s Carson Gleese is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Carson Gleese has been piling up the points this basketball season the same way he piled up votes in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

The St. Aloysius basketball player received 2,780 of the 4,055 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to earn this week’s award.

Vicksburg High basketball player Brycen Jones finished second, with 1,030 votes. Warren Central football player Tekarius Qualls was third, with 187 votes, and Vicksburg basketball player Zion Harvey came in fourth with 92.

Gleese, a junior, had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 66-33 win vs. Riverfield on Nov. 25, and 26 points and eight rebounds in a 71-59 loss to Tri-County on Nov. 26.

He has scored 20 points or more in five consecutive games, after going for 20 and 33 in games this week against Prairie View and Silliman.
