The Vicksburg Main Street Christmas Parade of Lights has been rescheduled due to expected rain Sunday.
The parade was originally planned to take place Sunday, Dec. 8, but is now scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m., Vicksburg Main Street Executive Director Kim Hopkins said.
The parade was originally scheduled for Sunday to allow for the barricades to be in place for safety without disrupting downtown businesses during the holiday season, Hopkins explained.
“We understand that rescheduling a large-scale event like the Christmas Parade of Lights can inconvenience community members, but our priority is making sure everyone remains safe while having an enjoyable time,” she said. “We encourage the community to support our downtown businesses and events leading up to the parade this Saturday.”
All other previously released information regarding the parade is transferable to the new date, Hopkins added. The route, time, participants, and road closures will not change.
This year’s theme is “The Nutcracker” and Joyce Clingan is this year’s grand marshal.
