Will Love was in Vicksburg from Boston. • Burglars entered the store of Sam Romano and stole hides.

The Post-Hearald carrier boys were tendered a banquet and $1,500 in savings checks were distributed. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1944

Staff Sgt. Elvin Shally was sounded in action in France. • Ben Fitz-Hugh was elected chairman of the Warren County chapter of the Red Cross. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1954

Ben Goodrum died. • Port Gibson resident Mrs. Annie Delaughter died.

60 YEARS AGO: 1964

Joe McCormack celebrated his 80th birthday.

50 YEARS AGO: 1974

Bob Tyler, head coach for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, was the speaker at the YMCA annual Football Awards Banquet. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1984

Services were held for Leroy Milton.

30 YEARS AGO: 1994

Owners of T&J Utility Co. Inc. were ordered not to shut down their sewer system and were warned they could face fines and court action if they walked away from the company.

20 YEARS AGO: 2004

Eight members of Dana Road Elementary and one member of Bowmar Elementary scrubbed and painted at The Initiative on Hope Street as part of a continued community service project. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2014

The St. Aloysius football program was recovering from a 49-14 loss in the Class 1A state championship game versus Cathedral.
