St. Al sweeps Prairie View for the second time

Anthony McCloud was a monster for St. Aloysius on Monday.

The junior had 32 points, nine rebounds and six assists as St. Al easily defeated Prairie View Academy 67-50 in a boys basketball game.

Carson Gleese added 11 points as the Flashes (8-4) beat Prairie View for the second time in a week.

Carson Henderson and Walt Andrews also scored five points eahc, Laken Bradley scored four, and Henderson had five steals.

In the junior high boys game, Dru Gleese had 17 points and seven rebounds as St. Al beat Prairie View 36-31. John Hossley added 11 points. Patrick Southerland had 11 rebounds and Evan Mallard grabbed nine.

St. Al will play at home on Friday against Tri-County. The junior high games begin at 4 p.m. and varsity at 6.

Christ Covenant 54, Porter’s Chapel 28
Campbell Laid made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points to lead Christ Covenant past Porter’s Chapel Academy (0-2) in a boys basketball game on Monday.

Jase Jung led PCA with 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Corvin Finch added six points and Tyler Hatler scored five. PCA was only 3-for-20 from 3-point range.

Auston Moore also had seven rebounds for the Eagles, and Morris Bailey grabbed five.

PCA will play again Tuesday at Franklin Academy, and will host Tallulah Academy Thursday. All junior high games start at 4 p.m. and the varsity at 6.

Girls
St. Aloysius 42, Prairie View 33
Megan Theriot just missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and 14 rebounds, as the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes (6-6) beat Prairie View for their second win in a row.

Taryn Lusby had nine points and six rebounds for St. Al, Farrell Roberson had six points and 15 rebounds, and Olivia Larsen scored seven points.

Mallory Hobson and Annslee Averett both had good all-around games, with each totaling four points, nine rebounds and four steals.
