Lady Vikes come up just short against Murrah

The Warren Central Lady Vikes came up one shot short of a memorable comeback and a winning streak.
The Lady Vikes erased a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but missed a shot in the final seconds and lost 46-45 to Murrah in a girls basketball game Tuesday.
Camara Evans scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half to lead Warren Central’s rally from a 35-26 deficit entering the fourth quarter. The Lady Vikes got the ball with 1.9 seconds left and couldn’t convert the game-winner.
Madison Ward finished with 11 points and Keasia Williams scored seven for Warren Central (1-7), which was trying for its second win in a row after snapping a 35-game losing streak in its previous game.
Jocemin Duren led Murrah (3-8) with 20 points, including 14 in the first quarter.
Warren Central will host Port Gibson Friday at 6 p.m. Next week it will go on the road to face Raymond on Dec. 17, and then play its MHSAA Region 2-6A opener at home against Vicksburg on Dec. 20.

Warren Central 57, Murrah 44
Roosevelt Harris led three Warren Central players in double figures, with 14 points, as the Vikings (2-7) beat Murrah (2-9) in the boys half of Tuesday’s basketball doubleheader.
All of Harris’ points came in the first half.
Jaylon Winters added 11 points and Larry Reynolds had 10 for Warren Central, which won its second game in a row following an 0-7 start.
