Mrs. C.S. Ehibert was to entertain Alfreda Buckman, a Vicksburg girl who was a member of the George Wintz Company.

Harry Kaiser’s new restaurant was formally opened.

80 YEARS AGO: 1944

James Monroe Cook, the last Confederate veteran in Sharkey County and participant in the Siege of Vicksburg, died at his home in Richey, Mississippi. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1954

John Gill was named Man of the Year by Vicksburg Jaycees.

60 YEARS AGO: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hill announced the birth of a son, James Michael.

50 YEARS AGO: 1974

Alfred H. Basinsky drowned after a fall in his bathtub at his home. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1984

Mary Christina Griffin, 4, and her brother, John Robert “Trey” III, 2, celebrated December birthdays.

30 YEARS AGO: 1994

Raising requirements and adding a class period for high school and junior high school students was needed to coincide with starting Tech Prep in some local schools.
