Red Kettle Campaign pushing toward goal: Donations continue through Christmas Eve

With just days left before Christmas, The Salvation Army is seeking community support to reach its Red Kettle Campaign goal for 2024. As the organization’s primary annual fundraiser, the Red Kettle Campaign provides essential resources to support programs that change lives year-round, officials from The Salvation Army said.

Currently, donations are behind the goal of $50,000.

“This year has been especially tough for many individuals and families in our community,” said Maj. Janna Torgerson. “With challenges like food, gas, and utilities, we continue to see an increased need for our services. As we approach the final stretch of the season, we are hopeful the community will rally behind us to ensure we can continue offering vital assistance to those in need.”

The Salvation Army bells will continue to ring outside stores through Christmas Eve, and the organization remains optimistic that with the community’s help, the campaign will reach its goal, Torgerson said.

“Our community’s generosity is truly inspiring. Every dollar donated stays right here in our area.”

Volunteers are a cornerstone of the Red Kettle Campaign’s success, she said. There’s still time for individuals, families, groups, and businesses to join the effort as bell ringers. Call 601-456-4444 to sign up.

“If you can’t join us in person to ring a bell, you can still help from home by donating to our virtual kettle,” Torgerson said. “Simply visit vicksburgkettle.org and select ‘Give to Our Virtual Kettle’ to support our mission right here in our community.”
