Mother Mary Benedict Betz died at the convent at the age of 84. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1944

C.S. Howard was installed as worshipful master of the W.H. Stevens Lodge and Fred W. Shipley as worshipful master of the W.G. Paxton Lodge. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1954

Oscar Banks was visiting relatives in Fairmont, West Virginia. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1964

Services were held for Will Gaines.

50 YEARS AGO: 1974

2nd Lt. David W. McBee was awarded silver wings at Webb AFB, Texas, after graduating from U.S. Air Force pilot training. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1984

Services were held for Terry Parker, an Alcorn State basketball player killed in an auto accident. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1994

The first known set of triplets to be born at Vicksburg Medical Center, Tiffany Rachelle, Blake Tullos and Jeremony Douglas Carroll, were preparing to leave the hospital with their parents. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2004

Two local fires were being investigated for signs of a connection. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2014

Circuit Judge Isadore Ptrick, junior Circuit Judge M. James Chaney, and Warren County Judge Johnny Price were just days into their terms after being sworn into office by Warren County Circuit Clerk Jan Daigre.
