Trophy presentation: Parade of Lights awards handed out at BOMA meeting (with photo gallery)

The winners of the 2024 Christmas Parade of Lights were publicly acknowledged during Monday’s final 2024 meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA), where Vicksburg Downtown Main Street Program Executive Director Kim Hopkins led this year’s trophy presentation.

“The Christmas Parade of Lights, ‘The Nutcracker,’ turned out to be a fantastic night, with beautiful, clear skies and an amazing crowd packed onto Washington Street,” Hopkins said. “The Vicksburg Main Street Program would like to extend a wholehearted thank you to our community, who enthusiastically supported the Christmas Parade of Lights.”

Accepting the awards for this year’s winning floats were: Rhonda Cresstwell for Life Church, which won the Most Creative award; Tabatha and Anthony Collins for All My Children Daycare, which won the Best in Business award; Courtney Reed for Unity in the Arts, which won the Most Enthusiastic award; Debra Franco for the Debra Franco School of Dance, which won the Best in Show award; and Susan Trest for the Old Depot Museum, which won the Best in Theme award.

Not present at Monday’s meeting were representatives from the Vicksburg Catholic School Band, which won the Most Original award, and the Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg, which won the Best Nonprofit award.
