2024 All-County Football: All-County Defense

Published 2:05 pm Saturday, December 28, 2024

The 2024 high school football season was an outstanding one for Warren County’s teams. Warren Central reached the MHSAA Class 6A semifinals, St. Aloysius and Porter’s Chapel Academy both reached the second round of the playoffs, and 10 individual Warren County and school records were set.

A dozen players were selected to the MHSAA or MAIS all-state teams, and nine played in state all-star games.

This week we celebrate all of their accomplishments by unveiling the 2024 Vicksburg Post All-County team for Warren County. The 18-man All-County defensive squad is led by three Warren Central players who shared the Player of the Year award — defensive linemen Tekarius Qualls, Larry Reynolds Jr., and Ronnie Blossom.

The Vikings’ trio combined for 96 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, and 10 takeaways.

Blossom led Warren Central with 96 tackles, but Reynolds had the most tackles for loss (39) and sacks (11.5), and set the school’s career record in the latter category.

Qualls tied Reynolds for the team lead with four forced fumbles, and finished with 76 tackles and five sacks. Qualls has signed with Hinds Community College.

Reynolds was the Overall MVP in MHSAA Region 2-6A. Qualls and Reynolds shared the region’s Defensive MVP award as the Vikings won their second consecutive region championship and reached the Class 6A semifinals for the first time since 1994.

The 15 other members of the All-County defense, as well as the 16 chosen for the All-County offense, all had excellent seasons. Scroll through the photo gallery above to see who made the team and their achievements.

The All-County offense also appeared in our Tuesday print edition. Warren Central’s Josh Morgan is the Coach of the Year and was featured in Friday’s edition. Copies of those papers are available at our office at 1106 Washington St. if you missed them.

The defense is in the Dec. 28-29 weekend print edition.

Congratulations to all!
