More than 4,000 Vicksburg and Warren County residents are without power Sunday morning following Saturday night’s inclement weather.

“Entergy Mississippi crews, contractors, tree trimmers and scouts are working diligently to restore power to more than 45,000 customers following the recent severe system,” Entergy officials said Sunday morning. “As of 9 a.m., Entergy Mississippi reports less than 36,000 customers are still without power.”

Areas without power in Vicksburg have been mostly reported in the city’s Ward 1 (formerly the North Ward), while more reports of damage and power outages have come from the Eagle Lake area of north Warren County.

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said he has been in contact with Entergy representatives.

“Their team is working as quickly as possible to restore power to the 4,066 residents of Vicksburg and Warren County without power. We ask for everyone’s patience during this time,” city officials said. “Please exercise caution and avoid downed power lines, as they may still be dangerous. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Mayor Flaggs directly at 601-942-0492.”

Entergy Mississippi officials said Warren County residents are among the more than 30,000 still without power Sunday across central and southern parts of the state.

“Entergy Mississippi has more than 235 additional lineman, vegetation workers and damage assessors working alongside internal crews to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” Entergy officials said. “Additional crews have been requested, and will work to ensure steady progress is made.

“The company continues to urge everyone to be safe. Stay away from downed power lines as well as flooded areas. Do not walk in standing water and do not venture into areas of debris since you may not be able to see a power line that could still be energized and dangerous.”
