The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) is actively searching for two suspects after a domestic dispute call Sunday resulted in shots being fired.
Chief of Police Penny Jones said the suspects are both juvenile Black males and should be considered armed and dangerous.
“The Vicksburg Police Department responded to a disturbance call involving a mother and her son,” Jones said. “Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that two Black male juveniles had assaulted their stepfather. The juveniles immediately fled the scene on foot, prompting officers to pursue them into a nearby wooded area.
“During the pursuit, another call was received by Warren County 911 reporting (seven to eight) shots fired. In response, the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) security team was immediately notified, as it is believed that the juveniles may have fled onto federal property.
“The juveniles have not been apprehended and are considered armed and dangerous. We ask that the public remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. These juveniles should not be in possession of weapons, and it is crucial for the safety of our community that they are located and taken into custody.”
Jones also urged all parents to be aware of their children’s access to firearms and other dangerous or inappropriate items.
“I encourage all parents to take inventory of their children’s belongings and ensure that no firearms or dangerous items are in their possession,” she said. “I cannot stress enough how important it is to follow the ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative. If you have any information regarding this case or the whereabouts of the juveniles, please contact the Vicksburg Police Department. We would like to thank the community for their ongoing vigilance and cooperation. Your awareness and quick action are vital to ensuring the safety of our city.”
