A new project for the new year is underway in downtown Vicksburg.

In a post to social media Friday, officials with the Downtown Vicksburg Main Street Program said the new mural is the latest to grace Gordon’s Alley in downtown.

“The arrival of the New Year marks the commencement of Vicksburg Main Street Program Gordon’s Alley Project, and we are enthusiastic about its potential,” officials wrote. “Observe the stunning new mural that is presently being crafted. Our goal is to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the alley through various initiatives, including the creation of new murals, pressure washing, the installation of lighting and poles, and the placement of planters. We invite you to follow our progress.”

In the post, Main Street officials said the project received support from a number of groups.

“This project is a result of ARPA Funds, provided by the Mississippi Main Street Association and the Mississippi legislature. We are grateful to the City of Vicksburg for their cooperation in facilitating these enhancements.”
