Dr. Hollis L. Caswell of George Peabody College addressed local teachers.

Lt. Jim Cunningham, who had been in action in the South Pacific on a PT boat, was home in Warren County for a visit.

Mrs. Angelina McRaney Baker, a resident of Port Gibson, died.

Mrs. Raymond Myrick died.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Kennedy hosted a benefit for the March of Dimes.

Retiring Vicksburg City Clerk Marie Pantoliano received the Outstanding Public  Service Award for 45 years of service to the city.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to allocate $26,000 to HIV Services Inc.

David Maggio led a tour group on Cherry Street as part of the “Past Comes Alive” walking tour of Vicksburg’s Historic District.
