The new year has arrived and the eyes of local organizations are already looking toward this year’s Mardi Gras season.

With 12th Night on Jan. 6 marking the start of Carnival on Monday, the Vicksburg Main Street Program is already looking for “krewes” that wish to participate in Downtown Vicksburg’s 24th Annual Mardi Gras Parade.  

Vicksburg Main Street Program Executive Director Kim Hopkins said the parade will be held Saturday, March 1, at 4 p.m. in downtown Vicksburg. The parade is slated to begin at Washington and Belmont streets and travel north on Washington to Jackson Street.

Applications are due no later than Feb. 19.
