90 YEARS AGO: 1935

A mild flu epidemic was sweeping the country. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Pvt. Phillip MacIntosh was home on furlough after service in the European, African, Pacific and Asiatic theaters. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Ronnie Lowery was named Vicksburg’s firstborn of 1955 and received gifts from the Vicksburg Evening  Post and Herald and participating merchants. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Services were held for Mrs. Mittie Whatley. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Four police cars, two pickup trucks and a one-and-a-half ton cab and chassis were purchased by the mayor and aldermen on behalf of the city. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Charles L. Amborn Sr. died. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

A 15-year-old on a bicycle fired a gun into a car on Speed Street and fatally wounded a 20-year-old man inside. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Nikki Nobles won the Young Adult Volunteer of the Year award for her work with a local nursing home. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

The Vicksburg Fire Department was mourning paramedic Drue Randolph, who was killed in a  New Year’s Day car accident.
