Mary Addie “Scrap” Baker passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Mississippi. She was 93 years old.

Scrap was born in the Beechgrove community of Claiborne County on April 22, 1931, to Samuel and George Blanche Perkins. Her family were sharecroppers and settled in the Pattison-Tillman community where she lived until her death. Scrap was a beautician for many years and also assisted at the Port Gibson Reveille. She loved to fish for bream at Lake Claiborne and work in her yard.

A tiny thing she was, but the love she gave was anything but small. She loved her family fiercely and demonstrated kindness and love to all she met. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Scrap” to all she encountered.

She is survived by a son, William Ladelle “Billy” Baker Jr.; and grandsons, Ryan Baker and wife Joy, and George Baker and wife Emily. She had five great-grandchildren, Alexis Grimm, Abbie Bauer, Addie Baker, Sam Baker and Mary Margaret Baker, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at Fife Cemetery, under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Sonny Twiner will officiate the service.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. David Headley and the staff of Arden Home Health, with special thanks to Joey Lyons and Kylee Conway.

Memorials may be made to Fife Cemetery Association, Attention Maggie Fife, 4192 Fife Drive, Pattison, MS 39144.
