Funeral services celebrating the life of beloved wife, mother, Gran, and Great Gran, Peggy Lee Allen, 94, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and formerly of Vicksburg, Mississippi, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, in the Chapel at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. in the chapel at the church. She went to be with her Savior Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens, Vicksburg under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville, Mississippi.
Peggy was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Morton, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Earl and Mary Lee of Ludlow, Mississippi, and had two sisters, Mary Earl and Neva Jo. She graduated from Morton High School and attended Mississippi College, where she met Gene Allen, and they married March 28, 1952. Gene and Peggy moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1953, where Peggy was an elementary teacher at Halls Ferry. After staying home for many years, Peggy worked at The Collection in downtown Vicksburg. She enjoyed visiting with people shopping at the local gift shop. Peggy and Gene spent most of their vacations in Sandestin, Florida, relaxing and dining at the local restaurants. Peggy was a committed Christian whose testimony was a life of service and sacrifice. She was very devoted to her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church for almost 70 years.
Peggy is survived in death by her daughter, Amy Allen Bailey (Mike); son, Gene Scott Allen (Deanna); grandchildren, Morgan Bailey (Chandler), Lee Bailey (Jennifer), Lauren Bailey Clayton (Andrew), Rivers Allen Simpson (Jack), and Miles Allen; and great-grandchildren, Allen Bailey, Wills Bailey, Harrod Bailey, Paisia Bailey, Maximus Bailey, Seraphima Bailey and Banks Clayton.
