Former LSU football player Kyren Lacy is wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run, the Louisiana State Police announced Friday.

The charges stem from a Dec. 17 traffic accident near Lacy’s hometown of Thibodaux, in which one person was killed and two others were injured.

Troopers are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in, the state police said in a statement.

The LSP’s arrest warrant said Lacy allegedly “recklessly passed passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed” in his 2023 Dodge Charger and crossed lanes in a no-passing zone on Louisiana Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish in South Louisiana.

According to the LSP, as Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge.

Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.

Following the wreck, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.

Herman Hall, a 78-year-old Thibodaux resident who was a passenger in the Kia Sorrento, later died from injuries suffered in the wreck.

The LSP said its investigation revealed Lacy was driving the Dodge Charger.

Lacy played wide receiver for three seasons at LSU and two more at Louisiana-Lafayette. He caught 58 passes for 866 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns this season.

Lacy declared for the NFL draft two days after the hit-and-run and did not play for LSU in the Texas Bowl against Baylor on New Year’s Eve.
