Services were held for Mrs. Emma Harris. • Paul Loyacano was elected president of the Vicksburg Engineers Club.

The Warren County School Board granted teachers a day off to lobby the legislature for higher pay. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

William Cody Boone celebrated his first birthday. • The Lady Vikes defeated Clinton 47-44 in basketball. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Northern storms were expected to cause the Mississippi to flood in late January. • Vicksburg fell to No. 5-ranked Murrah in a 65-56 decision on the basketball court.

Kathy Hopson-Ricks was named regional director of Americorps. • Warren County District 2 Supervisor William Banks qualified to run for reelection.
