George Street, Charles Colhoun and Esther Curphey were vocalists at the German music program at the Matinee Music Club meeting.

Alex Koury announced he would combine his two stores. • Joe Scott was ill at the sanitarium. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mrs. A. Street is reappointed to the National Committee on Volunteer Service at the American Red Cross. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Gary Coopers starred in the “Garden of Evil” at the Vicksburg Drive-In Theater. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Samuel Matthews died. • Services were held for Mrs. Lula Scruggs. • Mrs. Mary Jane Smith died. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Field and family returned from a holiday stay in Puerto Rico. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Louise Henry was director of marketing for the new Pemberton Mall and her daughter, Sue Hensley, was the mall manager. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

The house of J. Mack Moore on Clay Street was torn down.  

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

The old Battlefield Village Mall was torn down. • Two casinos site requests were going to the city zoning board for approval. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Brothers Billy and Bobby Stokes were settling into retirement from the River Operations Branch of the Operations Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
