Laces for Love 5K
The Laces for Love 5K is scheduled for Feb. 15 in downtown Vicksburg. The event will include 5K and 10K runs, a 5-kilometer race walk, and a 1-mile children’s fun run.

The race will begin at 8 a.m. in front of Key City Brewery and Milano’s Restaurant in the 1300 block of Washington Street, and follow a course through the downtown area. An after-party with a Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day theme will follow in the parking lot adjacent to the start-finish line.

The registration fee is $35 for the 5K events, $40 for the 10K run, or $20 for the fun run. Online registration is available at this link.

The event is a fundraiser for the Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg and helps fund several of the group’s community programs.

Run Thru History
Registration is open for the 46th annual Run Thru History, a 10-kilometer run and 5K race walk in the Vicksburg National Military Park. The race will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 8 a.m.

The registration fee for the 10K run and 5K walk is $40, and it is $20 for the children’s 1-mile fun run. The entry fee includes a Run Thru History shirt; admission to the after party at the Hampton Inn at 3330 Clay Street, across from the VNMP; and more.

VGSA registration
Registration for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s spring season is open until Feb. 15.

The league is open to players ages 4-16, with teams split into five age groups. Players will play in divisions according to their age on Aug. 1, 2024. Teams will be formed beginning Feb. 18 and practices begin Feb. 24. Games start on March 17.

The registration fee is $60 per player. Registration forms can be picked up and submitted at 601 Sports at 3500 Pemberton Square Blvd.

Sandlot tryouts
The Sandlot of Vicksburg is holding open tryouts for its youth softball teams in the 8U, 10U and 12U age divisions.

Hinds First Pitch Dinner
The Hinds Community College baseball program will host its annual First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. in the new indoor facility in Mayo Fieldhouse on the Raymond campus.

The featured speaker will be former Hinds and Major League Baseball pitcher Chad Bradford, and he will also do a question and answer session.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 years old and under. A reserved table for eight people is $250. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit sports.hindscc.edu.

Vicksburg-WC alumni football
Alumni Football USA is organizing an alumni football game between former players from Vicksburg High and Warren Central. The game is for adults ages 18 to 65. Equipment is provided for all players, and the game will have special rules to ensure safety.

Magnolia Wildcats football
Registration is open for the Magnolia Wildcats’ 2025 high school football, baseball, softball and cheerleading seasons. A meet and greet session will be held Feb. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, located at 5911 Terry Road in Byram.

The Wildcats are open to students in grades 6-12 (ages 12-18) who are home schooled or attend private Christian schools without an athletics program. Their teams compete against other home school and MAIS teams in the Mid-South Christian League. The Wildcats won the league football championship in their inaugural season in 2024. Players are drawn from across Central Mississippi and practices are held in Ridgeland.
