Funeral services for Joe Woodson, Jr. are to be held on Saturday, Jan. 18 in the Chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Rudy Smith officiating; interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Joe Woodson, Jr., a Vicksburg resident, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8 in the Shady Lawn Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was 80. He was retired from the MAT Sinking Unit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lillie Mae Woodson, Sr., and his brothers, Mannie Johnson, Clarence Johnson, Bert Woodson and Johnny Woodson.

He leaves to cherish memories his son, Joe Woodson; a daughter, Ruby Ann Shelby and son; a brother, Patrick Woodson of Vicksburg; his sisters, Roberta Stamps, Juanita Byrd and Doris Lee; two grandchildren; three great granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, including the Stamps, Woodson, Jones, Wildee, Johnson, Jackson, Byrd, Harris and Lee families.
