The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) has issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for a Vicksburg man after he allegedly opened fire on another vehicle while traveling on Interstate 20 near the Halls Ferry exit Tuesday afternoon.

Vicksburg Chief of Police Penny Jones said VPD is actively searching for 18-year-old Alvontae White in connection with the shooting, which injured one motorist. Jones said the victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, and the suspect have an “ongoing dispute” VPD believes led to Tuesday’s incident.

Jones said five other suspects, four males and one female, were taken into custody. The female, Jones said, is the parent of one of the persons involved in the incident.

White is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault. Jones said the weapon used in the shooting was “specially made” and more details will be released as they are uncovered.

Jones also asked that anyone with any information related to White’s whereabouts call VPD Capt. Curtis Judge at 601-636-2511 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477 (TIPS).
