Warren Central and Vicksburg High renewed their River City rivalry on the basketball court Tuesday night, with a girls-boys varsity doubleheader at VHS.

Vicksburg won both games.

In the girls’ game, Cynia Johnson finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds, and Zion Harvey scored 17 points as Vicksburg won 59-47. It was the Missy Gators’ 12th win in 13 meetings with the Lady Vikes.

Camara Evans scored a game-high 29 points to lead Warren Central.

In the boys’ game, Vicksburg used a 13-2 run in the third quarter to open a 16-point lead and wound up winning 52-35 to snap a five-game losing streak.

Mincer Minor scored 10 points, and Kris Washington and Ja’Quez Jones had nine each for the Gators. Javeion Perkins and Ja’Quez Marshall finished with six points each, while Perkins grabbed 12 rebounds and Marshall had 15.

Jaylon Winters was Warren Central’s leading scorer, with nine points. Nash Morgan scored eight, and Micah Moore and Robert Williams had six each.

The contest also featured a halftime performance by the drum corps from Vicksburg High’s marching band.

Vicksburg will play at Callaway on Friday night, and then hosts Columbus on Jan. 21.

Warren Central will be on the road for its next three games — Friday at Neshoba Central, Jan. 21 at Callaway, and Jan. 24 at Ridgeland.
