St. Al drops basketball district openers to ACCS

St. Aloysius started its district basketball schedule on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
Carson Gleese scored 22 points, but the Flashes lost 57-51 to Adams County Christian School in its MAIS District 4-5A boys basketball opener Tuesday.
St. Al (11-7) had its brief two-game winning streak interrupted. All three of its losses since New Year’s have been by six points or less.
Anthony McCloud added 17 points and six rebounds for St. Al, while Laken Bradley and Carson Henderson scored six points each. Gleese had five rebounds.
St. Al will be back on the court Friday at home against Copiah. Junior varsity games start at 4 p.m. and varsity at 6.
Girls
ACCS 41, St. Aloysius 32
The St. Aloysius Lady Flashes also lost their district opener on their road trip to Natchez Tuesday.
Taryn Lusby and Anslee Averett led St. Al (7-10, 0-1 District 4-5A) with seven points apiece. Lusby also had four steals and Averett had four assists.
Megan Theriot finished with five points and 11 rebounds, and Olivia Larsen had five points and six rebounds. Mallory Hobson also reached double figures in rebounds, with 11, and Farrell Roberson grabbed eight.
