Voting is open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest. This week’s nominees are soccer players Dalton Windham (St. Aloysius) and Amari Johnson (Vicksburg); Warren Central bowler James McKenna; and Porter’s Chapel basketball player Marley Bufkin.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Dalton Windham, a senior with St. Aloysius’ boys’ soccer team, totaled three goals and one assist in two victories last week. He had one goal in a 5-1 win over Muddy River, and two goals and an assist in a 5-4 overtime win vs. Bayou Academy.

Amari Johnson, a junior with Vicksburg High’s girls’ soccer team, scored both of her team’s goals in a 2-1 victory over Ridgeland on Jan. 17.

James McKenna, a senior on Warren Central’s bowling team, led the Vikings to a pair of region wins. He knocked down 298 pins in two games against Vicksburg on Jan. 14, and then rolled 598 for a three-game series in a win over Ridgeland on Jan. 16.

Marley Bufkin, a senior with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s girls’ basketball team, averaged 10.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games last week. Bufkin scored 10 points, four rebounds and four steals in a 33-22 victory over Tallulah Academy on Jan. 16, and had a game-16 points in a 29-28 loss to Prairie View Academy on Jan. 17.
