WC bowler McKenna is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

James McKenna rolled into The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest and knocked down all of his competition.

The Warren Central bowler received 323 of the 858 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to take the honor in a competitive four-way battle.

St. Aloysius soccer player Dalton Windham received 231 votes to finish in second place. Vicksburg High soccer player Amari Johnson was third, with 178 votes, and Porter’s Chapel Academy basketball player Marley Bufkin was fourth with 136 votes.

McKenna, a senior, led the Vikings to a pair of region wins last week. He knocked down 298 pins in two games against Vicksburg on Jan. 14, and then rolled 598 for a three-game series in a victory over Ridgeland on Jan. 16.

Warren Central will compete in the MHSAA Region 2, Class II tournament Friday in Philadelphia.
