Born July 30, 1949, in Vicksburg to Herbert and Ann Poole, Anna Leigh was a proud polio survivor. She grew up in Vicksburg and graduated from Warren Central High School. After living most of her life in Vicksburg, she relocated to Tennessee near Memphis in the late 1990s; later moved to Oklahoma; and finally returned to Mississippi in 2011. She retired from a career with the federal government and became lovingly known as “Mimi” after the birth of her first granddaughter.
Anna Leigh had a passion for crocheting and cross-stitching, creating cherished keepsakes like her granddaughter Noella’s baby blanket. An avid reader, she loved sharing her enthusiasm for books and learning.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Buford; and her step-granddaughter Skylar Farris. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Celeste (John); and her granddaughters, Noella Celeste, Sawyer, Finnleigh, and Rivers. She is also survived by her stepson, Robbie Farris, and step-granddaughter, Jordan Farris; her brother, Herbert Poole (Nita); her sister Susan Poole; her former husband, Bill Ford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. in Vicksburg. There will be no graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the March of Dimes or the Dementia Society of America in Anna Leigh’s name.
