An early morning structure fire on South Street yielded damage but no injuries Friday, Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said.

“At 1:22 a.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department received a call reporting a structure fire at 1612 South Street,” Stamps said. “When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke. They quickly made an interior attack, entering the residence and efficiently extinguishing the flames. This prompt action limited the damage to the structure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the situation was resolved without further incidents.”

The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
