W.L. Mattingly formally announced his candidacy for supervisor in the second district.

Capt. Florian Yoste arrived in New York after overseas service.

Capt. Edward Kember arrived in Warren County from Korea. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mr. and Mrs. Landy Teller were home from Ole Miss.

First Sgt. Ulysses H. Pollard graduated from the Army’s Sergeants Major Academy. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

The city and county governing boards adopted a resolution calling for the total consolidation of the two governments. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

An extended facility for the Vicksburg Warren Humane Society was set up to open on U.S. 61 South. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Several county roads were blocked as the Mississippi River reached flood stage.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Historian Terry Winschel published “Images of America: Vicksburg National Military Park,” a new book documenting the area’s history.
