Royrecus Cunningham pleaded guilty to armed robbery in Judge Toni Terrett’s courtroom on Wednesday. He was sentenced to 15 years, with eight years to be served, and given credit for time already served. He was assessed court costs and fines. One of his accomplices in the crime, Darryl Mattox, also pleaded guilty on Wednesday to armed robbery and was sentenced to 15 years, with eight years to serve and credit for time served. He was assessed fines and court costs.
Their crime dates back to November 2023, when they and a third man, Derrick Watkins – all of Georgia – robbed Doc’s Warehouse of cash and cigarettes in an armed robbery. Surveillance footage helped identify Cunningham, who was wearing dark clothing and a mask.
In other cases, Jarques Lee Bailey pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault. In July, 2024, Bailey was arrested following an incident in which two teenage girls were hit by bullets when he fired at them following an altercation. He was sentenced to 20 years, with eight years to serve. He was also assessed court costs and a $1,000 fine.
Justin Melzer pleaded guilty to molestation of a child under the age of 12 in connection to an incident in October 2022. He was remanded into custody and will be sentenced by Terrett Feb. 3.
