County issues burn ban

Warren County has banned any outdoor burning until further notice, the Board of Supervisors said Monday.
The ban applies countywide and, in effect, extends a ban inside the city put in practice last week when the Vicksburg Fire Department said no burn permits would be issued until conditions were more favorable.
Warren becomes the seventh county in the past week to ban outdoor burning due to dry and windy conditions. Supervisors issued the ban at the recommendation of Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs.
Monday’s vote did not specify which county entity would enforce the ban. Currently, violations of county ordinances on rubbish disposal and building permits are enforced by two dedicated enforcement officers.
Counties with burn bans in effect now include Warren, Hinds, Lauderdale, Perry, Rankin, Simpson and Wayne.
