Brenda Walley Dawkins

Brenda Walley Dawkins died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 62.

Born in Waynesboro, Mrs. Dawkins was the daughter of the late Nollie Walley and Ouida Busby Walley. She was a former resident of Natchez and had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 45 years. She was a graduate of Hinds Community College School of Nursing. She was a former employee of International Paper Company and a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Fairley Dawkins of Vicksburg; two daughters, Tammy Steed (Ray) of Vicksburg and Penny Ables (Ricky Nevels) of Vicksburg; four granddaughters: BreAnn Rayburn, Amanda Strange, Haley Steed and Kelcee Ables; two grandsons, Brandon Steed and Ryan Steed; a brother, Don Walley of Vicksburg; and numerous other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Simmons and Betty Jean Tarver; three brothers, Jerry Walley, James Walley and Joe Walley.

Services will be noon Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Busby officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the service. Memorials may be made to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of CVICU of River Region Medical Center for the excellent care and love given to their wife, mother, grandmother.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Dawkins, Imon Dawkins, Dr. Walter Dawkins, Dennis Garner, Charles F. Dawkins, Ray Steed, Randy Bass and Steve Turcotte.
