A Vicksburg man who was shot and wounded in a Dec. 6 fight at the American Legion Hall on Monroe Street was in jail Friday night accused of hitting another man in the face with a beer bottle during a Jan. 27 disturbance at the Upper End Lounge.
Wade Carter, who lives on First Avenue, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault for the incident at the Upper End Lounge, 1306 Washington St., Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
The incident led to the downtown bar’s closing for a day.
Carter, who earlier this week was indicted for possession of a controlled substance as a second or subsequent drug offense, was being held on $10,000 bond at Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
The Upper End is located above Lillian’s Restaurant on Washington Street. It was the second business in two months closed by the city because of violence on the premises. It was allowed to reopen Jan. 28 after a meeting between police and representatives for the bar.
City officials shut down the American Legion Post 3 hall after the Dec. 6 fight in which one man was killed and Carter and another man were wounded. The Legion hall remains closed for parties and other special events, city officials said.
