Charges were upgraded Friday against three people accused of arrested earlier in the week in a meth bust.

Kiley Goulette, 22, who lives on Freetown Road, Rachel Clark, 34, who lives on Highland Drive and Benjamin Brewer, 32, who also lives on Freetown Road, were charged Friday morning with possession of more than an ounce of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Justice Court Judge Jeff Crevitt set bail at $30,000 for Clark and $20,000 for Goulette. Bail was denied for Brewer, who is under indictment for two previous counts of possession of meth.

“Under the state constitution, I couldn’t set a bond for you even if I wanted to,” Crevitt told Brewer.

Clark, who has a felony conviction out of Florida, stammered and said she could not remember what she had been convicted of.

“It was three years ago,” Clark said.

Brewer, also appeared to be struggling to maintain himself during the hearing, and he spoke out of turn and appeared jittery.

“Right now I’m going to treatment,” he said before staring blankly at Crevitt.

The trio was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in a Chevrolet Silverado in the 2000 block of South Frontage Road, Warren County Lt. Randy Lewis said. A half ounce of meth in ice form was discovered during the traffic stop, and another half ounce of the drug was found in the vehicle when deputies executed a search warrant.

“There was over an ounce of high quality, high-grade methamphetamine in the car, partially in a chunk and partially packaged and ready for sale,” Lewis said.

Ice is a potent form of meth that resembles shards of ice or glass. Meth typically sells for about $100 per gram, Lewis said.

There are approximately 28 grams in an ounce, making the estimated street value of the seized meth more than $2,800.

A .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun and a sawed off shotgun were also seized during the arrest, Sheirff Martin Pace has said.

Brewer was held without bail in the Warren County Jail on Friday night.
