Man jailed for shoving 70-year-old to his death

A Vicksburg man accused of killing a 70-year-old relative Sunday was in jail this morning.
Caleb Erves, of Walnut Street, was being held without bond at Issaquena County Correctional Facility this morning.
Erves, whose age was unavailable this morning, is accused of pushing Emanuel Erves, 70, down a flight of stairs at 819 Walnut Street, according to a statement by Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams.
“Police responded to a rooming house … regarding an elderly man lying at the bottom of the steps of his residence,” she said.
Emanuel Erves was taken to River Region Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Williams said this morning it is believed he suffered a broken neck after being pushed by Caleb Erves.
Caleb Erves was charged with first degree murder and was expected to make an initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court today.
The relationship between the two was not clear this morning.
